Hot Chocolate Protein Mug Cake

A warm and satisfying holiday treat perfect for a cozy indulgence. To create this single-serving mug cake, start with a base of unsweetened applesauce (a kid-sized serving works perfectly) for moisture and natural sweetness. Add an egg (or flax egg) for binding and a dash of salt to enhance the flavors.

In the dry ingredients mix, combine cacao or cocoa powder, almond flour or coconut flour, chocolate protein, and baking powder. This blend ensures a rich and chocolatey mug cake that's also packed with protein.

Microwave until set, and you'll have a warm and comforting Hot Chocolate Protein Mug Cake ready to enjoy. It's a delightful and quick treat for those moments when you crave a cozy and protein-packed dessert. Savor the warm and chocolaty goodness in every spoonful!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 c unsweetened apple sauce (I used a kid single serve)

  • 1 egg (or flax egg)

  • dash of salt

  • 1 T cacao or cocoa powder

  • 3 T almond flour or 1 T coconut flour

  • 2 T chocolate protein @bad.athletics “badmeredith” or @equipfoods “peachie”

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

    STEPS

  1. In a sprayed large coffee mug or cereal bowl combine ingredients in order as listed.

  2. Stir well and microwave for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. I stopped at 1 minute and opened the microwave door to let the batter go back down so it doesn’t overflow. I did a bowl and it took 1 1/2 minutes. Just watch it. I like mine gooey and not overdone.

  3. Top with whipped cream, sprinkles, and desired chocolate chips for more festive fun.
