Burger Crust Protein Pizza

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (used 96% lean from TJs) ground turkey or chicken works too
  • 1/2 tsp salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 white onion, diced small
  • Desired toppings:
    • 1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese or classic American slices
    • Shredded iceberg lettuce
    • Dill Pickles
    • Onion, diced small
    • Ketchup
    • Yellow mustard
  • Burger Sauce:
    • 1/3 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
    • 1 T yellow mustard
    • 2 T pickle juice or white vinegar
    • 1/4 tsp pepper
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika 

STEPS

  1. Place beef, onion, and spices in a bowl and use your hands to combine.
  2. Break into 2 equal parts and flatten into a pizza shape as flat as possible on a parchment-lined sheet pan. (Makes 2 pizzas)
  3. Bake at 400° in the oven for 25-30 min or 400° in the air fryer for 10-15 min. Make sure it’s cooked through with a meat thermometer. Drain off any fat if there is any.
  4. Turn up oven temp to 425° and add American or cheddar cheese to each pizza. Cook another 5 min or so until melty and done. You can also broil on low for a few minutes if you want it more “burned melty”. 
  5. Add other burger pizza toppings and enjoy! Ketchup, mustard, and/or burger sauce, shredded lettuce, pickles, and chopped raw onion are faves.
